A Place for Atheists to Meet

Sometimes it's lonely being an Atheist in a world dominated by religion. There are Atheists who have never met another who shares their world-view. Maybe you want to make a public statement about your lack of belief. This site is here to help. Any Atheist can enter contact information. Visitors may browse entries and make contact as they wish.

There is another, older, larger contact list run by the Internet Infidels. You can find it at Freethought Contacts List. That list had previously been operated as The Atheist Contact List, but was renamed sometime in the latter half of 1998. This site is not intended as competition. I see no reason not to sign up with both.

For singles, there is a commercial enterprise: AtheistSingles.com. I have no personal experience with them, but they seem to be a large singles network and they are now starting an Atheist section.

The main reason I decided to launch Atheist Contacts was that I saw a niche for a contact list specifically targeted for Atheists. While I have no quarrel with renaming the Infidels' list to Freethought Contacts List, some of us prefer the more unequivocal term. In addition, I have long felt that such a list ought to be a bit more flexible in the type of information it allowed a person to list.

Linking to Atheist Contacts
If you have a website, and you join Atheist Contacts, you might also want to link AtheistNet.com from your site. How else are they going to find you?

Feel free to copy this graphic for your link. You should copy the image file to your own website. The name is athnet1.gif. You can then add HTML code similar to this:

<a href="http://AtheistNet.com/"><img
 src="athnet1.gif" width=130 height=73 border=0
 alt="Atheist Contacts">Atheist Contacts</a>

If you don't feel comfortable making graphic links, a simple text link will do just fine.

Some exciting links
I am going to keep this section short. It is not an exhaustive list of every Atheist web site on the planet. There are several good all-inclusive link lists for Atheists already in existence. It will not even list all my favorites. These are the ones I consider essential.

American Atheists Flash Line
A great source for information on current events of interest to Atheists.
The American Atheist
The Web version of The American Atheist. Full-text selections from the printed edition and lots of extra content.
The Secular Web
The Secular Web is perhaps the most extensive online resource for Atheists and other non-religious.
The Freedom From Religion Foundation
Among other worthwhile efforts, the FFRF publishes the monthly newspaper Freethought Today.
The Council For Secular Humanism
Publishers of Free Inquiry
Atheist Alliance
Uniting many fine local organizations
